Health & Wellness Work Group

The Health & Wellness Work Group (HWG) is a strong circle of African American health practitioners, institutional leaders, and community members at the state, county, and local levels, to build a culturally informed framework for community wellbeing.  In addition to the Baraza Black Woman’s Conference, referred to above, the HWG is currently engaged in initiatives to conduct a community survey of Culturally Sensitive Trauma Informed Mental Health Care and Menthol Tobacco prevention.

Work Group Chairs:

Gene Nichols:

1. Advance culturally sensitive, trauma-informed mental health care;

2. Promote preventive health care and healthy lifestyles;

3. Promote access to healthy food and environment
