SMART Wellness

Dr. Reba Peoples, of Imara Health & Wellness, will be hosting a 6 month series on African American mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health

The program begins Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at UROC.

Imara Health and Wellness in collaboration with the African American Leadership Forum is pleased to announce the SMART Wellness® series. SMART Wellness® is a holistic framework for developing a healthy lifestyle that places a particular emphasis on understanding how our unique history, culture and identity as people of African descent factors into our experience of emotional wellness.  This progressive and interactive series will introduce a new learning module each month. By the end of the series, participants will come away with a solid foundation for a wellness practice that allows them to have the tools needed to combat stress, overcome overwhelm and live a lifestyle that is consistent with joy and vitality.

Module #1: Getting Unstuck
This module provides a historical perspective on the emotional health challenges that are unique to the African American community and introduces the SMART Wellness framework for cultivating wellness in the face of historical trauma, racism and structural inequality.
