 Announcing the African American Leadership Forum’s BARAZA: A Black Woman’s Health Event

Young, Healthy, and Black conference will help African & African American girls in Minnesota live their best healthy life!

 

MINNEAPOLIS, September 30th, 2019 — the African American Leadership Forum (AALF), in collaboration with organizations that work with teens and young adults, will hold a one-day conference to support the health and well-being of girls between the ages of 13 and 18 from across the African diaspora. This year’s event includes topics on self-discovery, entrepreneurship, spiritual healing and education, and will take place at the NorthPoint Conference Center (5th floor) at 1256 Penn Avenue North in Minneapolis; Saturday, October 26th, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with Maya Marchelle as the keynote speaker and Chantel SinGs (host & radio personality for 89.9 KMOJ) as MC. Participants will be provided with a taco bar lunch, gift bags and raffle prizes!

AALF Baraza

Maya Marchelle: Maya has been surrounded by artistry and creativity all her life. After graduating from Minneapolis North High School, she arrived at Xavier University in August 2005, temporarily landed at Southwest University in Marshall, Minnesota, and finally at the University of Minnesota where she earned degrees in in child psychology and social work. In 2016, with her musician brother as her producer, she released the single “On Instagram” on SoundCloud. To house her creative endeavors, in 2017 she established The Maya Marchelle Company, an inspirational music, fashion, and publishing company that extends across genres and styles in Black culture. She has launched three successful clothing lines with celebrity endorsements. Maya’s purpose in life is to suffuse the world with her light and glorify God.

Chantel SinGs: Chantel has earned more than 10 nominations for “Best Female R&B Artist Of The Year” in Minnesota. She took home the award for “Best female R&B Artist Of The Year” in 2012. She has been featured as the opening act for national recording artists such as Trey Songz, Jagged Edge, Lyfe Jennings, Jeremih, KCI & JO JO, J. holiday, Joe, Keith Sweat, S.O.S Band, Montell Jordan and more! Some of her music has been featured on popular television shows such as MTV’s Black Ink Crew, MTV’s Jersey Shore, and VH1’s Basketball Wives. She is currently a host on the KMOJ Radio Morning Show with Freddie Bell.
