Minneapolis is at an inflection point.
This election season isn’t just about who leads next—it’s about how we shape a future that honors where we’ve been, meets the urgency of where we are, and creates space for what hasn’t yet been imagined.
A Mayoral Forum for Minneapolis’ Future is a gathering grounded in care, rooted in Black wisdom, and reaching toward something greater. It’s a space where we move beyond the usual politics—and into shared vision, deep accountability, and community-centered leadership.
At The African American Leadership Forum, we believe that futures are built—not forecasted. And our future starts here, together—in rooms where people gather to dream, ask bold questions, and build with intention.
We’re holding space for a different kind of civic engagement. One where leadership is called into alignment with the people. One where Black experience, memory, and vision are central to the conversation. One where our collective power is recognized as the foundation of a thriving Minneapolis.
This is not a debate. This is a gathering of possibility.
What You’ll Experience
- Community-Centered Dialogue
The conversation will be guided by trusted Black leaders and cultural organizers—people who carry the insight and lived experience of our communities. - A Grounded, Intentional Environment
The forum will be welcoming and accessible—shaped with clarity, care, and attention to what helps people feel seen and heard. - Vision-Driven Questions
These are not pre-scripted talking points. They are questions drawn from real lives, designed to illuminate not just what candidates believe but what they’re willing to build. - Concrete Pathways Forward
You’ll leave with ways to stay engaged and informed beyond the forum—because this work doesn’t end in one night. It moves with us into what comes next.
Why We’re Holding This Forum
- To center Black voices, wisdom, and legacy in the civic life of Minneapolis
- To move from transactional politics toward long-term, values-based leadership
- To offer a space where residents set the tone—and candidates are asked to meet it
- To affirm that building the future is a collective act—and we all have a role to play
Who This Is For
This space is for anyone who cares about where Minneapolis is headed—and how we get there.
Whether you’re deeply involved in organizing, raising a family here, navigating change in your neighborhood, or simply paying attention and wanting to do more—this forum is for you.
You don’t have to come with answers. Just come with your presence, your questions, and your vision
