This isn’t a webinar series. It’s a gathering of visionaries.

Movement Building for Black Futures is five sessions of deep, intentional work designed for people who are shaping what’s next. If you’re organizing in your neighborhood, leading at your job, speaking truth through your art, or simply looking for a way forward—you belong here.

We’re building more than skills. We’re building alignment. Strategy rooted in culture. Leadership grounded in care. Futures shaped by our people, for our people.

Each session opens space to explore a vital piece of movement work:

  • How our stories carry power
  • How care becomes a form of resistance
  • How coalitions are grown, not just formed

You’ll hear directly from Black leaders who are living this work—on the ground, in the field, and across generations. We’ll be having deep discussions and sharing tools to get clear on how your voice moves us closer to liberation.

Why We’re Here

Because the work ahead isn’t easy—and we’re not meant to do it alone.
We’re here to:

  • Sharpen leadership that’s accountable, community-rooted, and grounded in values
  • Elevate Black perspectives, strategies, and visions
  • Offer tools for movement work that lasts and adapts
  • Create a space of mutual learning, trust, and care—where we grow together

This is for those who know that liberation isn’t a metaphor. It’s a daily practice. A collective effort. A future we build in real time.

Session Lineup and Speakers

September 11 – Power is Plural: The Foundations of Movement-Building
With Amber Jones
We begin with the basics. What does it really mean to build a movement—and how do we define power in our own terms? This session lays the groundwork for leadership rooted in clarity, purpose, and collective action.

September 18 – We > Me: Building Coalitions that Last
With Fatima Moore
No one does this work alone. In this session, we’ll explore how to build and sustain partnerships across communities, values, and identities—without losing yourself in the process.

September 25 – The Story is the Strategy: Narrative Justice in Action
With Dara Beevas
Movements rise and fall on the stories we tell. Learn how to shape and share narratives that move people, challenge systems, and create space for something new.

October 2 – Impact as Practice: Sustaining the Movement
With Wintana Melekin
Sustainable movements require more than passion. This session focuses on how we track progress, stay accountable, and define success in ways that reflect our values—not just numbers.

October 9 – Rest is a Weapon: Self-Care & Collective Care as a Strategy for Change
With Marlee James
We close the series with a conversation about wellness, healing, and rest—not as a luxury, but as a leadership practice. Because we build stronger movements when we care for ourselves and each other.
