Tyrize Cox Joins The Forum as Chief Community Revitalization Officer to Propel Northside Forward Toward Transformative Impact

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Minneapolis, MN—June 23, 2025—The Forum is proud to name Tyrize Cox as its new Chief Community Revitalization Officer. In this strategic leadership role, Cox will lead the bold Northside Forward initiative—an unprecedented, community-authored 10-year campaign designed to catalyze North Minneapolis’s renaissance.

Born from the voices of over 200 residents—from elders to youth, artists to entrepreneurs—Northside Forward charts a community-led journey toward economic power, cultural resilience, and generational wealth. Anchored by six pillars, 25 strategies, and 73 actionable steps, the initiative is poised to attract $1.5 billion in targeted public and private investment, reshape two signature corridors, and realign civic resources with the aspirations of the people who call the Northside home.

Under Cox’s leadership, Northside Forward aims to:

  • Support 50 new businesses rooted in community ingenuity and local ownership
  • Create 1,240 new jobs in growing sectors—tech, green energy, creative industries
  • Bring 3,800 new housing units—from affordable to legacy-building ownership models

“These numbers tell only part of the story,” said CEO Adair Mosley. “Northside Forward is a transformative act of self‑determination. It reorients wealth, leadership, and hope back to North Minneapolis.”

Tyrize Cox, a native of North Minneapolis and seasoned public servant, brings deep expertise to this mission. With executive leadership roles at Minneapolis Public Schools and the top-ranked Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, she has consistently centered community in service design and delivery.

“This work is deeply personal to me,” Cox said. “Northside Forward builds on the brilliance, legacy, and vision of our people. I’m honored to guide this movement that places community power at the center of economic and social transformation.”

As Chief Community Revitalization Officer, Cox will spearhead local collaboration, ensure accountability across cross-sector investments, and champion designs that reflect Northside culture and leadership—working in partnership with civic and design experts like Gensler, a range of community-driven advisory boards, and strategic financial partners such as U.S. Bank.
