As Northside Forward moves from vision to reality, one truth remains at the heart of it all: the people who shaped the Northside must be able to stay, grow, and thrive here.
The Northside Forward Anti-Displacement Framework, authored by Samuel Benda and Busisiwe Ledibane, is a vital part of that commitment. It lays out clear, community-rooted strategies to prevent displacement—protecting residents, local businesses, and cultural spaces as investment and development move in.
This framework doesn’t just ask what needs to be built—it asks who it’s for. It centers care, equity, and belonging, ensuring that progress doesn’t erase, but uplifts the people and history that make North Minneapolis home.
